Open studio

Open studio hours are for independent work. You bring a project, claim a table, and paint without a lesson plan. An attendant remains on site for safety and to answer practical questions about drying times or storage.

Registration is required so we do not overcrowd the room. Regulars can reserve recurring slots; visitors may take remaining seats seventy-two hours ahead. Headphones are welcome; phone calls belong in the stairwell.

Still-life props from group classes may be used if labelled free. Please reset tables, wipe sinks, and log solvent use. Community depends on these small courtesies more than on any manifesto.

Open studio is not a drop-in gallery. Guests of painters need advance notice. If you want guidance, book a painting block or mentoring hour instead of expecting critique during open time.

Seasonal light shifts in Cologne change drying times; attendants post humidity notes near the sink. If you work with oil, plan longer gaps between layers. Acrylic painters may reserve wall space for larger panels when booked two days ahead.
