Art Frosty Birch is a working painting studio for adults who want sustained practice without the noise of a trend-led gallery schedule.
We teach observation before flourish. Still-life setups rotate monthly; portrait evenings arrive when enough regulars ask for them. Oils, acrylics, and water-based media share the same tables, with clear house rules about solvents and ventilation. Beginners receive a structured onboarding; returning painters book open-studio hours and work independently with optional critique.
Our curriculum avoids gimmicks. Colour mixing is taught with limited palettes so relationships become visible. Composition studies use charcoal and paper before paint, because drawing still teaches faster than any shortcut video. Critiques are scheduled, not ambushed, and always framed as questions about intention.
Market Lane sits within easy reach of tram stops and central Cologne cafés. The studio is on the first floor with step-free access via the side lift. Lockers keep wet panels safe between sessions. Tea is available; strong solvents stay in the labelled cupboard.
